Enhanced Hoshin Strategic Planning Process

An enhanced hoshin planning process (hoshin kanri) can be achieved through the 9-step Integrated Enterprise Excellence (IEE) business management system.

hoshin planning process in IEE begins with step 5

Hoshin kanri, also called hoshin planning or policy deployment, is a technique that can establish a structure for implementing executive-defined strategies. However, the wording of traditional strategic statements can lead to executions that are very team dependent. In addition, these statements can also lead to activities that are not healthy for the organization as a whole. An IEE enhancement to the traditional hoshin planning process addresses these issues.

In the IEE enhanced hoshin planning process, targeted strategic statements are made in step 5.  Metrics that need to improve relative to these strategies are identified in step 6 and then executed as process improvement efforts in step 7.

In the Internet article link below, Forrest Breyfogle will elaborate more on the benefits of an IEE approach for enhancing  the traditional hoshin planning process.
