Described is the integration of the project management methodology in an overall enhanced Integrated Enterprise Excellence (IEE) Business Management System so that the enterprise as a whole benefits from the timely completion of implementation projects.
Project Management Methodology in an Enhanced Business Management System: Description
Organizations benefit when process improvement, design project undertakings, and just-do-it projects have an structural alignment with the overall business needs. This analytical determination for where to focus business enhancement efforts is addressed in step 2 of the 9-step Integrated Enterprise Excellence (IEE) Business Management System:
The following figure shows an example alignment of business goal (step 4), targeted strategies (step 5), high potential areas (step 6), and identify/execute projects (step 7).
Projects in the IEE system can be a:
- Lean Six Sigma improvement project
- Lean kaizen event
- Deming Plan Do Check Act (PDCA)
- Just do it project
The type of project does not really matter with an IEE implementation. Where focus is given in IEE is the timely execution of projects that will improve a metric that benefits the business as a whole. “Proof” that a business KPI or performance metric improved is that a 30,000-foot-level predictive process output response transitions to an enhance 30,000-foot-level performance response.
