Lean Six Sigma Practitioner Training

Much needs to be considered before selecting a Lean Six Sigma practitioner training course and certification to purse; e.g., Master Black Belt, Black Belt, Green Belt, or Yellow Belt.

Lean Six Sigma Practitioner Training Considerations: The Business Needs

Organizations pursue lean Six Sigma techniques to improve their processes, where this effort is often initiated with practitioner improvement-tools training. However, with this organizational lean Six Sigma deployment training approach, selected improvement projects are often in silos and do not benefit the business as a whole (if they get completed at all).

What is needed is a lean Six Sigma implementation that breaks down organizational silos and executes improvement projects that  benefit the enterprise as a whole.

Lean Six Sigma Practitioner Training needs to avoid silo improvement projects

This big-picture improvement objective is accomplished with an Integrated Enterprise Excellence (IEE) business management system.  IEE addresses the business scorecard and improvement issues described in the one-minute video:

Some companies do not want to consider a change in their business management systems immediately, but realize that many of the IEE concepts would be beneficial to their business. A direct training initially of leaders in the workforce is the best adoption path for this situation. When IEE concepts are used to improve the performance of key personnel and in key business areas, the culture can begin to change, leading to greater benefits to the business as a whole.

Lean Six Sigma practitioner training (Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt and Green Belt) courses can provide not only the IEE methodology training but also skills in solving problems, leading teams, reporting process performance, and introducing change into the business. This IEE introduction approach for a lean Six Sigma deployment creates a core competency within a business that will begin to drive greater levels of performance in everyone without the requirement to deploy an entire Lean Six Sigma methodology into the business.

NOTE: This is type of overall deliverable consideration is an important to not only organizations that are desiring to train employee but also individuals who are striving to improve their personal skills.

Use this course to target specific IEE developers and users that do not need a full Lean Six Sigma tools course. These topics are included in all of the Lean Six Sigma courses listed above.

An advantage to this IEE introduction method is that you are developing better skills in your workforce that will provide benefits to the organization with or without an introduction of the IEE methodologies. If the business does choose to adopt one or all of the IEE business system methodologies, this is also a perfect first step towards building the core competencies that would allow the organization to manage the system with only internal resources.

Lean Six Sigma Practitioner Training Considerations: What is the Best Approach for You and Your organization

Much needs to be considered before selecting which belt(s) should be pursued and where to get training.  Not all training is created equal.  For example, Smarter Solutions’ believes that belt training should be more than teaching the tools. Lean Six Sigma training should involve the how-tos for better report generation and tracking process outputs using a 30,000-foot-level format  Also, we believe it is important that trained belts are involved in the selection of improvement projects to undertake that benefit the businesses as a whole; i.e., help determine what projects need to worked on, not just wait to work on projects that someone tells you to do.  These two items are often not addressed with traditional lean Six Sigma training.

Smarter Solutions has been involved in lean Six Sigma training since before the turn of the century.  We wrote the first technical book on Six Sigma (Implementing Six Sigma)., which had a first edition publication by Wiley in 1999. We understand that our lean Six Sigma training is not a good fit for everyone.  This fit or not determination can be made very quickly in a conversation with us; however, one can gain much more than a yes or no decision by having a discussion with us.  In a short chat, most people that we have had a conversation with have gained a greater insight to what they should consider for both theirs self and their organization (short-term and long-term), whether this involves Smarter Solutions or not.
